"Today's resignations are justice to victims. We congratulate both La Salle University and the coaches for doing the right thing. Unlike many other universities across the country they have taken a stand to help prevent future victimization."
"Violence in our nation's collegiate athletics programs is a scandal not just at La Salle, but across the country. This must change."
"Beginning with La Salle University our nation's schools have to hold their athletes fully accountable for their misconduct. They must not try to dissuade victims from reporting crimes to the police. Sadly it seems they also have to educate their male athletes to respect women, and turn back the culture of entitlement that pervades so many collegiate athletic programs."
La Salle University continues to face accusations of violating the federal Jeanne Clery Act, named in memory of Connie Clery's daughter who was brutally raped and murdered at Lehigh University in 1986, for not ensuring that victims of sexual assault are fully supported and assisted in notifying the police. Institutions found in violation can be fined up to $27,500 per violation or be stripped of their eligibility to participate in federal student aid programs.
