Orlando, Florida-Ushering in what Steven J. Healy, the incoming president of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), called a new era of collaboration Security On Campus, Inc.'s Senior Vice President S. Daniel Carter spoke Monday at IACLEA's national convention in Orlando. "I'm very pleased to be here today and look forward to working with you," Carter said.

Carter spoke of SOC's recent partnerships with IACLEA to develop the Jeanne Clery Act campus crime reporting handbook with the U.S. Department of Education, and SOC's forthcoming Clery Act training program which has been developed by a team of the nation's leading experts on the law including IACLEA's Dolores Stafford and Bill Taylor.

He announced that the first Clery Act training session, funded in part by a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice's Office for Victims of Crime, will be offered October 2nd and 3rd, with an opening night reception on the 1st, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The program is designed to encourage collaboration between campus officials with responsibility for Clery compliance by having them come to the trainings in multi-disciplinary teams and Carter encouraged campus law enforcement to bring their colleagues from other fields to the trainings. Information about registration will be available in the near future through the SOC Update.

He also invited schools to participate in National Campus Safety Awareness Month programming this September. As previously announced in the SOC Update a web site with free programming and a select number of free programming kits with videos and other materials will be available later this summer for schools to use as a starting point in developing their own programs for activities throughout September.
