National Campus Safety Awareness Month Kicks-Off At Campuses Across The Country
The campussafetymonth.org web site has been established to provide schools with free programming ideas and informational resources. And SOC, with support from Rave Wireless, has also provided fifty schools with special programming kits that include educational DVD's, study guides, educational brochures, and other materials. The first few weeks of each new school year are an exciting time for college students but with many young people on their own for the first time they can also be extremely dangerous. This period has even been nicknamed the "Red Zone" because of this risk. SOC, with unanimous support from both houses of the United States Congress, created NCSAM in 2005 to help educate students during this most critical period.
