Dear Friends, Security On Campus, Inc. has been asked by the U.S. Department of Education to be an active participant in the development of the Jeanne Clery Act Handbook for which we secured the funding from Congress earlier this year. The project, which has been contracted out to the research firm Westat, got underway earlier this month and will be ongoing through this coming Spring when a finished product is scheduled to be put in the hands of more than 6,000 institutions of postsecondary education across the country. We will be hard at work to make sure that it is an easy-to-use instruction manual that will make it easier for colleges to comply with their campus crime reporting obligations. We are also going to make sure that the requirements aren't weakened in any way, thus ensuring that our nation's students have the crime information they need to make informed decisions. It is important that you, our supporters, also be involved in this project and we need your input. If you know of any problems schools have had complying or your school has had questions about how to properly comply, please let us know and we will make sure those issues are addressed in the handbook.
