Resignation Of La Salle Coaches Is "Justice To Victims"
King Of Prussia, PA-Connie Clery, co-founder of Security On Campus, Inc., on Saturday issued the following statement regarding the resignation of La Salle University men's basketball coach Billy Hahn and women's basketball coach John Miller:
La Salle University continues to face accusations of violating the federal Jeanne Clery Act, named in memory of Connie Clery's daughter who was brutally raped and murdered at Lehigh University in 1986, for not ensuring that victims of sexual assault are fully supported and assisted in notifying the police. Institutions found in violation can be fined up to $27,500 per violation or be stripped of their eligibility to participate in federal student aid programs. U.S. Department Of Education Misidentifies Clery Act Violators
Washington, DC-Two lists of Clery Act violators recently provided to SOC by the U.S. Department of Education (ED) and posted to our web site have been determined to be flawed. In some cases schools identified on the audit list as violators had in fact never been found in violation, and others which had been were omitted from both the audit and program review lists.
Blue Ridge Community College in Virginia was misidentified as a Clery Act violator in a previous edition of the SOC Update based on their erroneous inclusion on the audit list and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused. In addition the entire audit list has been removed from our web site until a corrected list can be obtained from ED. Campus Crime In The News | ||||||||
